Betrayal
The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini: Amir betrays his friend and servant two times. Once he fails to save Hassan from Assef's brutal assault, and then he frames Hassan by placing a watch and money under Hassan's mattress in the servants' shack where Hassan lives with his father Ali. I think letting Hassan get assaulted in the alley way was more of a betrayal because if Amir stopped Assef, he wouldnt have had to blackmail Hassasn later in the story. Amir was just a coward and a chicken. He could have prevented it all.
Thanks Mark. Can we fault people for being cowardly? We are not all heroes, and it would take a special person to step into the alley. I have to ask myself if I would, before I can ascertain which was the worse betrayal.
